We asked our volunteers a very simple question: Why do you volunteer? Some of their heart-warming responses follow.

“While my career and family life is satisfying and productive, I volunteer to bring more compassion into my life. Compassion based activity is important to my spiritual growth.”
Greg Meredith

“I volunteer because I want to give back to the organization that helped my husband, Bob, and me get through his 9 years of Alzheimer’s disease. I hope that my volunteering contributes to the quality of life that Collabria Care helps bring to clients and their families.”
Cheri Bailly-Jacobs

“After a several-decade career in marketing and communications, in retirement, I wanted to give back to my community and to have the opportunity to “flex a different muscle”, working with people in a very personal and hands-on way.”
Katheryn Lewis

“I volunteer because I have been very fortunate in life and want to give back. Hospice is a wonderful program and has always been a passion of mine. Now that I’m retired, I have the time to devote to supporting this very valuable set of programs.”
Holly Hansen

“I’ve reached that stage of my life when I have more free time and want to “give back” and do something worthwhile and meaningful to others.”
Nancy Bria

“I’ve been volunteering for almost seven years now and I enjoy it very much! I started in March of 2010 when my daughter, the Nursing Services Manager, asked if I would consider coming in to help feed one of the participants who was unable to feed herself! After she left, I helped with lunch service, bingo set up and watching some of the participants cards to make sure they heard the right numbers that were called! After that, I was asked if I could help with the “quilting group” and have been doing that for a few years! All the participants are really enthused about making things they can take home and use themselves and I enjoy working with them very much!”
