Join Us at the Light Up a Life

Community Memorial Service

Sunday, December 3, 3 p.m.

 

The service will include music performed by the Vintage High School Chamber Choir, spoken reflections, and a memorial candle lighting.

Together we will create a supportive and uplifting atmosphere. Come by yourself, with your family, or a friend and be comforted as you share a special moment of remembrance this holiday season.

Being a caregiver for someone with dementia can be very stressful. This series of classes provides helpful techniques to care for the patient—and yourself—and to give you a better understand the progression of the disease. Classes are offered as a free community service.

10 Tips for Lowering Holiday Stress

“Sometimes we get so caught up in the traditions of the season that it detracts from the true meaning of the holidays,” says Willa Decker, MSN, MA, RN, FNP-BC, clinical assistant professor and mental health expert at the Texas A&M College of Nursing.

“In the long run, stress can have a debilitating effect on our overall health,” Decker noted. “Around 75 to 95 percent of people in hospitals are admitted due to stress-related symptoms.”
