Winning Dish at Hall Wines Cabernet Cookoff Wins Big for Collabria Care

Duff Goldberg Describes winning dish

Blue skies and warm sunshine greeted guests at the Hall Wines Annual Cabernet Cookoff over the weekend. The event took place at the magnificent Hall winery in St. Helena. Once again Collabria Care was the designated charity of Michelin-Star Chef Mark Dommen of One Market Restaurant in San Francisco.

This year Mark composed an extraordinary dish: Red Wine Risotto w/ smoked duck gizzards, crispy duck skin, and hen-of-the-woods mushrooms, easily beating out the competition to win the Judges Choice Award. Mark, who recently was awarded Volunteer of the Year for Collabria Care, has won this award three times, raising thousands of dollars to support our programs.

This time he and his team were awarded $9,350 on behalf of Collabria Care. The Cookoff, hosted by Craig and Kathryn Hall, raised more than $60,000 for local charities. Next time you’re up valley, be sure to drop in for a tasting and thank them for their generous support!
