By breaking down each stage, using GEMS, you will be better equipped\nto support someone in any stage of the disease.\nJanuary 22\nLearning to speak Alzheimer’s\nShowing caregivers how to focus on the whole person—not just their symptoms or disease— “Learning to Speak\nAlzheimer’s” helps attendees say or do the right thing at the right time, while providing ways to manage their own self\ncare through emotional re-framing and helpful community resources.\nJanuary 29\nChallenging Behaviors\nShowing many ways to understand and connect warmly with combative loved ones, “Understanding &amp; Managing\nChallenging Behavior” outlines steps towards soothing difficult moments and reinforcing positive emotions for loved\nones and caregivers alike.\nFebruary 5\nSelf-Care for the Care Partner\nHelping caregivers help themselves, our class “Self-Care for the Care Partner” provides ways to manage stress, to set\nrealistic goals, to seek collaborative solutions, to ask effectively for help, and to reframe negative emotions and\nself-talk into positive, healthy action plans.\nThursdays, from 10:30 – 12:00 noon at Providence Community Health Napa Valley, 414 South Jefferson St. Napa, CA 94559.\nPre-registration is required. \nREGISTRATION LINK\nYou can also register by phone or email.
